FAUNA tries to save all that we can by finding homes for our animals, transporting them to other parts of the country that have a need for more pets, and housing as many at the facilities as we can, but our system cannot keep up with the current volume and intake of animals at local animal control, where strays have 7 days after adoption is posted on their facebook page and there is no time requirement if an owner surrenders an animal.
We all love puppies and kittens, but the best thing for our community is to get your animals spayed or neutered!

FAUNA (Friends All United for Natchitoches Animals) tries to save all that we can by finding homes for our animals, transporting them to other parts of the country that don’t have massive numbers of unwanted dogs and cats, and housing as many at our Happy Tails facilities as we can, but our rescue cannot keep up with the current volume of abandoned animals, as well as those at the local animal control facility, where strays have only 7 days after “available for adoption” is posted on their facebook page. Owner surrenders have no time requirement.

If you want to be “part of the solution, please go to Spay Natchitoches to fill out an application for assistance to have your pet spayed/neutered. Funds are limited, so don’t wait.
Spay Natchitoches
- To apply online, please fill out the application completely, and submit. LINK TO APPLICATION HERE.
- Applications are processed weekly and vouchers mailed to qualifying applicants. Please allow 7-10 days for a response on your voucher application. If you have already made an appointment for your pet due to concerns of unwanted litters, email Spaynatchitoches@yahoo.com and we will make every effort to expedite your voucher.
- If you have sent in an application and have not received a response within 3 weeks, please email Spaynatchitoches@yahoo.com to be sure your application was received.
- Vouchers are only good for 30 days. If you are unable to use your voucher within the 30 days it is valid, please let us know as soon as possible and we will make every effort to provide you with a new voucher or make arrangements for use of the voucher you currently have.
Filling out this application does not guarantee you a spay/ neuter voucher. Vouchers will be provided as long as funds are available.
The voucher is a coupon/discount for a portion of the cost of spaying/neutering. The amount you will pay, yourself, will depend on the price for spaying/neutering at the vet you choose. Usually, the amount you pay will be under $100, including rabies shot, if needed. Think of that as a donation to our community, and it means you will not have to worry about finding homes for your pet’s offspring!
If you cannot afford $100 at a local vet, please check out Magnoliaspayneuter.com, they are low cost and are based in Alexandria, we try to have their mobile clinic come to Natchitoches a few times a year so be sure to follow us and them on Facebook for those dates!
IMPORTANT: Magnolia Spay/Neuter does not take dogs over 70 lbs at the offsite clinics or over 90 lbs at their Alexandria location.
