Serving Every Animal in Natchitoches Parish with Compassion, Care, and Community

At FAUNA, we believe no animal should fall through the cracks simply because of where they live. As the only all-volunteer, parish-wide rescue organization in Natchitoches, we provide a full range of lifesaving programs designed to help both stray animals and the families who care for them.

We serve 100% of the parish — from downtown to rural areas — and we meet people and pets where they are, with compassion and support.

Shelter & Foster Care Program

Providing Safe Haven, One Paw at a Time
We rescue abandoned, neglected, and at-risk animals and place them in loving foster homes or temporary shelter care until they’re ready for adoption.

Spay/Neuter Assistance Program

Ending the Cycle of Overpopulation with Access & Empathy
Every month, FAUNA helps dozens of families afford spay/neuter procedures for their pets. But our limited funding from the parish — about $10,000 — is exhausted in just 30 days.

Community Pet Services

Keeping Pets Healthy, Microchipped, and Loved
Through pop-up health fairs and partner events, we offer free or low-cost:

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program

Compassionate Care for Stray & Feral Cats
We humanely trap, sterilize, vaccinate, and return community cats to their colonies—preventing suffering and reducing the stray population.

Emergency Response & Outreach

Meeting Urgent Needs in the Moments That Matter Most
When animals are abandoned, injured, or in crisis, FAUNA responds—often before anyone else can.
